Material and methods: Of 23 officer trainees of the Czech Military University, before and after a 2400m run,
and also after the subsequent 30 minute’s recreation the following parameters were determined out of
capillary blood: pH, pCO2, baseexcess, glucose and ion. Mg. Heart frequency (HF) at all 3 sampling times as well
as running times were checked.
Results: The individual relation between pH and pCO2 is calculable at all sampling times and is dependent upon
effort. Likewise, the values of ionized Mg – the only electrolyte with such a behaviour – and parameters of
effort (HF, BE) correlate at all sample times significantly. Moreover, stress marker of adequately loaded
participants like glucose, Mg or pH during the anticipation phase before sports correlate significantly with the
running times later (performance).
Discussion and summary: individual Mg concentrations at anticipation period, after sort and even after
recreation correlate with stress markers like BE or HF. This suggests a comparison even between the sampling
times, e.g. Mg concentrations before the run and running times (performance). The resulting significant linear
correlations could qualify as predictors of chances of performance, however only in adequately loaded
